Best trade copier for prop firm accounts
There is no single best copier: it depends on your platform, your firm’s rules and how fast you need copies. We make one of them, so treat our view as one input. Here is a 10-point checklist you can use on any copier, and what Lucid Terminal’s Copy Trader does on each point today.
At a glance
Start with the rules
Prop firms differ on copy trading. Read your firm’s rules before you pick a tool, because no copier changes them.
Check your platform
Copiers support different platforms (Tradovate, Rithmic, ProjectX and others). Make sure yours is covered for the role you need: leader or follower.
Ask for measured numbers
Speed and uptime claims are usually the vendor’s own. Test on a demo account before you rely on any copier.
The checklist
| What to check | Lucid Terminal Copy Trader today |
|---|---|
| Does it support your platform?Prop firms run on different platforms, and a copier may cover only some of them. | Partly Tradovate and the prop firms that run on Tradovate. ProjectX/TopstepX, Rithmic and Sierra Chart are built and coming soon; more are on the roadmap. |
| Does your firm allow copying?Rules differ by firm. Some limit copying, forbid copying other people’s trades or forbid opposite positions. | Yes It copies only between accounts you own and trade, all on your own login. It has no reverse copying and never follows another person. It does not enforce your firm’s rules, so you must follow them. |
| How fast, and measured how?Ask for measured numbers, not a headline. | Partly About 2–3 seconds today. A faster live-update path is coming; in our simulated test it took about 25–50 ms from fill to follower order. |
| Can each follower have its own size? | Yes Yes: fixed quantity or a multiplier, E-mini to Micro mapping, and a maximum-contracts cap per follower. |
| Does each follower have its own risk limits? | Yes Daily loss cap, daily profit target, maximum trades a day, session window, and prop-rule protection (account floor or trailing drawdown). |
| What happens when something fails?A dropped connection, a rejected order, an expired login. | Yes A lost leader connection pauses the group instead of reading as flat. A follower that hits its own rule stands aside. Repeated rejects switch a follower off, and you get an alert. The Kill Switch flattens everything. |
| Does it repair drift between accounts? | Yes Yes. Followers are checked against the leader on start and every cycle; extra size is cut and missing size topped up. |
| Can an order be sent twice? | Yes Each leader fill is claimed once, so a restart or a repeated event does not send a second order. |
| Is live copying actually on? | Partly Opening in stages, demo accounts first. Ask us for the current status before you rely on it. |
| What does it cost, and can you try it? | Free $0 · Pro $150/mo (includes the Copy Trader) · Elite $350/mo · Lab $700/mo · Lifetime $6,999 once. Founder code FOUNDED40 takes 40% off for as long as you stay subscribed, for the first 50 paying founder members (Pro becomes $90/mo); after that FOUNDED30 takes 30% off (Pro $105/mo). Questions
What is the best trade copier for prop firm accounts?
It depends on your platform, your firm’s rules and your speed needs. Use the checklist above on any tool, test on a demo account, and read your firm’s copy-trading rules. We make the Lucid Terminal Copy Trader, so we are not a neutral judge.
Do prop firms allow trade copiers?
It depends on the firm. Rules differ on copying between your own accounts, on copying other people’s trades and on opposite positions. Always read your firm’s current rules. Lucid Terminal does not enforce them for you.
Do I need a VPS to run a trade copier?
Not for Lucid Terminal’s Tradovate copying: it runs on our servers. Some platforms need a desktop-side connection instead, and the app handles that on your own PC.
Can I try the Lucid Terminal Copy Trader first?
Yes. Pro includes the Copy Trader and has a 7-day trial that costs $0 today. Try it on demo accounts first.
